This is an interesting article because it again emphasises the link between planning permission, architectural design, building control and fire safety.
Since Grenfell we have started to see the fallout between these various stages of development and how at times safety is comprised at the expense of profit.
Cheaper building materials and problems during construction are often only identified after the building has been occupied and we are now seeing a backlog of these buildings across the UK.
It’s vital this is put right at the beginning of a building idea and design and all the way through to completion.
