It’s important to keep on top of fire safety.  Have a quick look at this simple checklist that you can use on a daily/weekly basis to help maintain the fire safety within your building.

1.       Make sure your fire doors are not wedged open

2.       Ensure your fire doors all close tightly into their frame and are in good order

3.       Ensure your escape routes are kept clear

4.       Test your fire exit doors to ensure they all open easily

5.       Check around the perimeter of your building to ensure it is kept clear

6.       Check you are not interconnecting electrical extension leads or using multi-block adaptors

7.       Check your fire safety logbook – are you testing all your systems as per the standards?

8.       Have a quick look at your fire safety signage – is it all in place and clearly visible?

9.       Have all your staff members received fire training? Has anybody been missed?

10.   When did you last have a fire drill? Check your records – you could be due one
