This awful fire in Bolton is troubling in so many ways, the fire safety failures and history of the building, the failure of the fire alarm system and sheer speed the fire spread through the building. I will keep a close eye on developments here. Thankfully there were no fatalities but it is shocking that a fire can start and reach that point so quickly before fire service intervention. I think an open mind is required here before any sort of judgement but I’m sure everybody will agree that that just should not be possible in a building of that usage.
